Central PRTG server
The PRTG monitoring environment is installed on a central PRTG server – on-premises or hosted in the cloud by Paessler. This is where all the monitoring data is sent to from distributed networks; secured via SSL/TLS. If an error occurs, you’ll be alerted immediately via customizable notifications.
Multiple PRTG servers
For each PRTG server, you can create up to 10,000 sensors (hardware permitting). More than that and it makes sense to install several PRTG instances on multiple servers. Paessler PRTG Enterprise Monitor makes this possible.
Remote probes
You can extend monitoring to your distributed networks by installing a remote probe in each network you want to keep an eye on. PRTG remote probes come in two flavors – the classic remote probe for Windows systems and the multi-platform probe for Linux/Unix and other systems.
