PRTG API: RESTful Application Programming Interface

PRTG includes a web-based "RESTful" API (Application Programming Interface) that enables external programs to access information from the monitoring database and to manipulate objects inside the database of PRTG. In the context of the PRTG API the attribute "RESTful" essential means

  • that it is HTTP/HTTPS based
  • that it uses a set of "HTTP GET" URLs to access and manipulate the data and
  • that you'll get back an XML document in return (for most calls).

For more information, see PRTG Manual: Application Programming Interface (API) Definition.

Deprecated TEXTLIST interface of IPCheck Server Monitor and PRTG Network Monitor

The TEXTLIST interface was initially introduced for IPCheck Server Monitor 5. For easy upgrades we have also implemented it for PRTG Network Monitor 7, but it should be considered deprecated for PRTG. Please use the PRTG API for new projects.
